What we cover
Each IP school writes its own mathematics scheme of work, and many cover topics earlier and in more depth than an O-Level course. Years 1 and 2 build number, algebra and geometry; the topics below are typical of Years 3 and 4. We start from your child’s own school scheme and follow its order.
Algebra
- Equations, inequalities and functions
- Polynomials and partial fractions
- Exponential and logarithmic functions
- Sequences and series
Geometry and trigonometry
- Coordinate geometry
- Trigonometric functions, identities and equations
- Vectors
Calculus, statistics and probability
- Differentiation and its applications
- Integration and its applications
- Data analysis and probability
Where IP Maths marks go
IP school tests reward the same thing an examiner rewards: a clear line of working for every step. Because there is no O-Level in the middle, habits set in the IP years carry straight into A-Level papers. We teach students to write the line each mark lives on.
How a lesson runs
Marked like an examiner
Homework comes back annotated against the mark scheme, M1, A1 and B1, so students learn where the marks live.
Five to a room
The tutor sees every line of working, in every lesson, for every student.
Timed from Term 2
Knowing a method and producing it in 90 seconds are different skills. We practise both.
Questions parents ask
Why take maths tuition in the IP?
IP students skip the O-Level or SEC and go straight to the A-Level. Without a national exam in Sec 4, school tests are the only check along the way, and gaps in algebra or trigonometry tend to surface late, in the A-Level years.
Do you follow my child’s school syllabus?
Yes. IP schools set their own schemes of work, so we group students by level and working grade and teach to what their school is covering. Bring your child’s school scheme of work or recent tests to the trial class.
What happens in a trial class?
Your child joins a regular lesson at their level and works the same problems as everyone else. The tutor marks their working against the official scheme, and we go through it with you afterwards. There is no obligation to enrol.
What does a trial class cost?
The trial is a regular 2-hour lesson, and it is paid. Message us on WhatsApp for the current fee. There is no registration fee, and no obligation to enrol afterwards.
How do fees work?
Fees depend on the programme and are charged four weeks at a time. There is no registration fee or deposit. Missed lessons can be made up in another class of the same level within the term. Message us on WhatsApp for the current fee.
